Private: My Western Union Quick Cash AdSense Payment Experience

I have been meaning to write about my Western Union Quick Cash AdSense payment experience but I wanted to get clearance from the Google Adsense Team if I can reveal I was a beta tester from May 2007 until September 2007. Yesterday, I received an email from The Google Adsense Team stating that It’s fine for you to mention that you were a
beta tester for the Western Union Quick Cash payment method.
At the time of the beta test, I was told not to tell the other publishers because it was a limited test but now, it’s available to all Google Adsense publishers so I can tell you all about my experience.

To understand the payment mechanics, read Yuga’s entry on How to pick up a Western Union Quick Cash AdSense payment?

When I received the email “Google AdSense - Invitation to Western Union” last April 9, I agreed right away because I believed that benefits of using Western Union Quick Cash over the Secured delivery was so much better or so I thought.

True enough, May payment was immediately available two days after I got my first notice. I chose Banco de Oro (BDO) to receive the Western Union Payment because:

1. I already have an existing dollar savings account with them. My identification would not have to go rigorous documentation and one (1) ID is only needed.
2. I prefer to deposit the cash straight to the dollar savings account. BDO gave me the option to withdraw it in dollars and pesos. Of course, I chose dollars because the Western Union rate is much lower than the bank’s rate. Besides I wanted to save my income.

The May and June payment went smoothly. Transaction took less than 20 minutes including deposit.

Alas, Banco De Oro stopped being a Western Union Payment Service Agent. My Western Union Payment experience then started to be a hassle.

Take note that my quick cash requirement is in Dollars so here was my problem:

1. Not all Western Union payment service agent banks like China Bank release the money in DOLLARS. Once I tried to withdraw in pesos and it took me OVER an hour to get the pesos. The China Bank branch I went to is extremely slow in processing because their FAX machine is faulty everytime Western Union faxes the approval.

2. Not all Western Union payment service agents like those found in malls have enough dollars to give you. It is important to call them up first if they have the dollars you need. Find their Phone numbers here.

3. The Western Union service agent in Robinsons Galleria required three (3) identification cards which is unfair because their rules state two IDs will do. If you are not a bitch like me, they could get away with it. I insisted that my Drivers License and passport are very reliable IDs and sarcastically told them that a company ID can easily be faked.

4. Withdrawal in dollars at the malls is not a safe thing to do. I became paranoid. The last time I withdrew pesos in my ATM machine, my wallet got snatched while shopping at National Book Store. So be careful in withdrawing dollars in malls. Bring someone with you to guard your back or bag.

I did not bother to open a new dollar savings account in other Western Union Payment Service Agent banks because first of all, I like to bank in BDO and second, I thought of just receiving the check using Secured Delivery. Yes I know I will pay $24 fee but I prefer deposit and I treat my Google Adsense income as forced savings.

Don’t get me wrong, the Western Union Quick Cash AdSense Payment is a safe way to get your Google Adsense income. Why?

1. Your funds will be available 2 days after we send them

2. You can receive your payment in your local currency

3. You can pick the payment up at any Western Union office in your country

4. You won’t have to wait for the check to arrive by mail

5. You won’t have to wait for the check to clear in your bank account

6. You won’t be charged for the service at this time

Try using it for a few months if it suits your financial plans.

Nice that Google decided to open WU Quick Cash method to the public. Now, there’d be less lost check horror stories. ;D

I am one of those unfortunate bloggers who wasn’t able to get their money through Western Union for I only have 1 valid ID. I can’t produce another ID immediately but I have my other (expired) ID and Alumni Card but still they don’t want to honor those IDs. waaaaaaa
