Search Engine Marketing Conference 2007 First Day

I was pretty excited with the Search Engine Marketing Conference 07 that I ended up paying for the early Bird Registration. Based on the official website, The Search Engine Marketing Conference (SEMCON) Philippines 2007 is the leading edge event for sharing real world information about the growing search industry, with key topics in search engine marketing, search engine optimization, pay-per-click, conversion optimization, web analytics, viral & word-of-mouth marketing and social media & community-driven marketing. SEMCON had a set of distinguished speakers in their field of expertise and the first confirmed speaker was Aaron Wall of seobook.com. I was surprised to see that the physical arrangements of the conference was crowded. One had to inch slowly towards one chair. So it looked like it was overbooked and terribly cramped. A better venue should have been selected. Fortunately, I got a good seat up front but I was terribly disappointed to have very minimal elbow room on my table.

Despite the glaring inconvenience, the speakers were very informative. I especially liked Aaron Wall’s keynote speech, Ben Arriola’s “SEO for Megasites, Jayvee Fernandez “Effective Web Copywriting”, Elymar Alpao ” Link Building Tactics, Tool & Techniques”, Rhiza Sanchez”, “Advanced Link Building Strategies”. Basically, I learned that one needs to have good quality content combined with quality links. A lot of the SEO techniques I mastered in the past seem outdated already and new tips and techniques were learned in this conference. I plan to apply all these strategies in my real estate blog and the best real estate investment site of Nuvali blog which I just installed two weeks ago.

Yes I want conversions which translate to sales. I know I will gain a lot more information tomorrow, the second day as
the topics dwell on “Designing the Best Customer Experience/Advanced Topics in E-Commerce”.

Like I told you earlier, everything would have been perfect if not for the venue. The place must have been so cramped that it affected the nerves of this certain participant. A certain M. Pollock seemed irritated that we had a long queue for lunch and even berated the hotel staff for inefficiency. Impatient, he grabbed a plate and cut into our line…and in his haste, he dropped his plate on the foot of Enrico P. Franco. Did Mr. Pollock say “sorry” to Enrico? No…

You know, I get hungry especially if I am low-sugar state (I’m diabetic) and if I have to, I get a bit of food to pacify my hunger pangs. But I never forget my manners in case I have to cut in the line…I will excuse myself and certainly I will apologize if I drop my plate on your foot. I don’t know what made him act that way.
